Welcome to All Things Maxine. I'm Maxine Whetstone the Artist, the passionate owner and the hands behind the scenes of this amazing venture.
Over 25 years ago while I was the Director of an Assistant Living Facility I learned to crochet while watching one of my residences crochet all the time.
Just sitting and talking with her while she crocheted and see what she created with a ball of yarn inspired me to start crocheting. I would go to her room, and she would give me advise and tips about crocheting but the one thing she couldn’t do was read crochet patterns. So, I bought some crochet books to see if I could read the pattern to crochet. Guess what, I could read the patterns. While talking to her early one morning I crocheted a cute little dolly for her nightstand and took it to her room while she was away, with a card that read “Handmade with you in mind” The warmth, love and excitement in her voice inspired me to crochet more to give as gifts. Over the years I have crocheted a lot and have yarn that will last me a lifetime. While buying yarn I would stop and look at the beads wondering how I could use some beads in my crocheted items.
My Passion & Mission
Over the years I have learned a little about the meanings of stones and their properties. Not knowing back then that I was using some of the same stones in my crochet items.
Fast forward to now, yarn and beads is My Happy Place. Thanks to my family, friends and my new community of people for supporting me has inspired me to create more and my passion for crocheting and making jewelry has been in overdrive. This is something I LOVE TO DO.
All Things Maxine was created from the Love, Excitement, Joy and Happy feeling you get when you see something that makes you smile and want to do the Happy dance...that feeling. That's how I get while shopping for yarn and beads and then creating something beautiful. The look and excitement I see and hear from my community when they receive their purchase knowing that it was created with love and handmade with you in mind, let's me know that dreams do come true.
